Hongrui (Henry) Liu b.2000, is an artist born in Shenzhen,China. He grew up in Hong Kong and moved to London in 2016 to study and pursue a career in the arts. 

He attended the Fine Art programme in Central Saint Martins in 2021 where he spent his time on a series of essay films on existentialist theory surrounding Heidegger and Merleau-Ponty, (Onwards, 2019), (A Thing, 2020) whilst experimenting with sound art and wrote about sound, noise, and art whilst producing drawings and paintings. His journey then led him to the Contemporary Art Practice (MA) course at the Royal College of Art in London. Shifting from a Dionysian practice to a steady and methodical one tilting towards toil and labour, Producing an animation (Desinon 2022-ongoing), and multiple digital drawings fictioning on the possible dangers of the machine whilst also embracing the advancement of technology.In the past two years, His main focus has been on painting, seeing the act of painting as an action of dialogue between philosophy and practice, expression and conception. 

His themes are personal and contain a lot of emotional weight. Believing that the feelings awakened by intimacy and originality is irreplaceable and powerful In the sense that these feelings, although intimate and personal, are also universal. He is amcurrently fascinated on how western aesthetics influences him and his generation of Chinese artists. The discourse of this is carried on through his practice, which ultimately is an experiment in perfecting his cultures artistic language and heritage with western artistic language, which specifically in this case, is technique in relation to materiality. 

劉泓睿(Henry Liu)2000年出生於中國深圳,成長於香港,2016年遷至倫敦學習並追求藝術生涯。

他於2021年就讀於倫敦中央聖馬丁藝術與設計學院的美術課程,期間製作了一系列圍繞海德格和梅洛龐蒂的存在主義理論的論文電影,如《向前》(2019年)和《一件事》(2020年),同時他在實驗聲音藝術的過程中,創作了關於聲音、噪音與藝術的文章,並製作了多幅繪畫和素描。他的藝術旅程隨後帶他來到倫敦皇家藝術學院,攻讀當代藝術實踐(碩士)課程。他從狄奧尼索斯式的實踐轉向更加穩定和方法化的勞作,創作了動畫《Desinon》(2022年至今)和多幅數位繪圖,探討機器可能的危險性,同時也擁抱技術進步。在過去兩年中,他主要專注於繪畫,將繪畫活動視為哲學與實踐、表達與概念之間的對話行動。

他的主題是個人的,包含許多情感重量。他相信親密和原創性喚醒的感情是不可替代且強大的,這些感情雖然是親密且個人的,但同時也是萬象的。他目前著迷於西方美學如何影響他和當代的中國藝術家。這一論述通過他的實踐進行,最終是在完善他的文化藝術語言和遺產的語境下,結合西方藝術語言,在這種情況下,是涉及技術與物質性的合併。
